Renta ULD strives to elevate the shopping experience with sites that are clean, efficient, and beautifully designed. The Pinnacle is no exception.
RULD coordinated the land use planning, site master plan, grading, zoning, landscape architecture, hardscape design, and irrigation design for the Pinnacle development as well as a civic space at Pinnacle Park.
The Pinnacle is a regional shopping destination for Bristol, Tennessee, Bristol, Virginia, and Kingsport, Tennessee. Anchored by Bass Pro Shops, CARMAX, the region’s largest Belk, and the area’s only Marshalls, the 250-acre complex also houses some of the region’s best restaurants and eateries, like Outback Steakhouse, Aubrey’s, and Moe’s Southwest Grill. Pinnacle also provides unique entertainment opportunities such as a 12-screen Megaplex movie theatre and an indoor trampoline park.
The $200,000,000 development was partially funded by the City of Bristol, which provided $25,000,000 for the Public Infrastructure portion of the project. Johnson estimates that the first phase of the complex will create 2,000 jobs and add $200 million in annual sales to the local economy. The first stores opened in 2014, and many more followed in 2015. Pinnacle 12 by Marquee Cinemas opened in October 2015.
Renta Urban Land Design performs work on a variety of commercial projects, from the site design of a single franchise to master planning large, regional centers such as the Pinnacle. RULD is typically involved from project conception, often before buildings or land are purchased, to study the current land uses, forms, and local codes in order to help guide the clients and the designs toward a successful outcome. RULD’s strengths lie in the understanding of the built environment and the focus on being good collaborators with allied professionals, be it architects, engineers, or planners and leaders in the municipality where the project is to be built.
