Renta Urban Land Design, a small, creative landscape architecture and planning firm in Birmingham, Alabama, is interviewing candidates for a landscape architect or landscape architect in training with 3-5 years’ experience. Our ideal candidate is a collaborative problem-solver who can effectively manage multiple projects, and one who loves creating memorable places where people want to be.

Candidates shall have a Bachelor or Master of Landscape Architecture from an LAAB-accredited program, or a closely related degree. Professional licensure or progress toward completion of the LARE is preferred, but not required.

Candidates must be proficient with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office applications; Vectorworks, AutoCAD, SketchUp, or other 2D/3D drafting and/or modeling software; and demonstrate the ability to create effective graphic and written communications. Experience using Vectorworks is a plus; proficiency with the software is expected within 3 months.

Candidates must demonstrate the ability to produce and manage landscape architectural construction document packages for a wide variety of project types including city greenway master plans, bioretention and storm remediation projects, park and recreation designs, and large commercial and mixed-use developments. Successful candidates will be expected to take on project management responsibilities for small projects within the first 6 to 8 months, and larger projects as they demonstrate improving professional knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Please send a cover letter, resume and portfolio/work samples (total file size 15 MB or less) to stephen@renta-uld.com. We will conduct initial interviews for candidates outside the Birmingham area by teleconference (FaceTime or Zoom) before scheduling in-person interviews.
