Renta ULD designs for sustainability. This LEED Silver campus sits on the bank of a 3-acre pond with a managed fish and wildlife population.

     In 2008 Stewart Perry completed construction of a new $4.2 million corporate campus on a 16-acre site. The building reflects Stewart Perry’s values and commitment to the environment and was recognized by the Green Building Council as a LEED Silver Certified project. RULD completed master planning, hardscape design, and landscape architecture work for the corporate headquarters.

 

     The principal building houses multiple offices and an open accounting studio filled with hand-crafted workstations and saturated with natural daylight. Every detail of the site and building encompasses beliefs in sustainability, from the reclaimed cypress floors to the exterior stone walls crafted by local artisans. Other sustainable materials and practices include ceilings and doors fashioned from salvaged red bald cypress trees, and oak flooring repurposed from a tobacco warehouse.

 

     The office sits on the bank of 3-acre Overton Lake. Once toxic due to its proximity to coal mines, the lake is now clean and it supports a managed fish and wildlife population. Water silos capture 40,000 gallons of rain annually, and a year-round vegetable garden is maintained on the property.

 

     The Stewart Perry Corporate Headquarters received an AIA Commercial Merit Award in 2009, and an Alabama Chapter ASLA Merit Award in 2019. The site was also selected as part of Design 200, celebrating 200 years of great design in Alabama
